Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck) was an American actor and singer who performed for over 40 years. London was a torch performer loved for her smooth, mellow singing voice and her smooth, languid contralto and recorded more than 30 albums of pop and jazz standards between 1955 and 1969. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001 was her rendition of "Cry Me a River" the track she had introduced to her debut album. London was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for her performance as Dixie McCall, a nurse in the show Emergency! London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's acting career of 35 years began with film in 1944. It included parts in the lead female in various westerns. She signed a recording contract with Liberty Records in the mid-1950s. This marked the start of her professional musical career. Her final album of studio recordings in 1969 but continued to have success as the female starring role of nurse Dixie McCall in the television show Emergency! (1972-1979) In the show, she acted with her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
