Lucy-Liu
Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American actor, voice actress as well as a director producer and singer. An intelligent and attractive actress, she's an example to many Asian actors who aspire to break into Hollywood. Through a succession of appearances in some popular series she gained fame after joining the cast of the show Legal Comedy Ally McBeal where she played the villainous Ling Woo. She translated her sudden popularity into big screen roles in films like Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. In the following film, she delivered an outstanding performance in the role of Japanese crime lord O-Ren Ishii as Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. The same year, she also played the lead role in a few box office failures such as Rise: Blood Hunter. In the following years, she began voice-overs for prominent characters in animated films like Kung Fu Panda. The small screen role of Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia did not yield the desired results. Southland, a critically acclaimed series of police dramas which featured Liu in recurring roles, helped her reestablish herself. Liu picks her roles with care so that she does not get marginalized in a crowded industry. Though she has embraced her cultural roots, she hasn't allowed them to restrict her as an artist.
