Fawn Mckay

Fawn McCay Brodie was born in Ogden Utah September 15, 1915. Fawn McKay, raised in the Mormon Church's First Family, used her literary talent and expertise in research to write the fascinating psycho-historical biographical biography of Joseph Smith. Published in 1945 with the title:"No Man knows My History, she used both. That title was taken from a funeral speech delivered by the founding father of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 1844, when he shocked his listeners by declaring: You don't know me and you've never known my heart. My life story isn't known to any one. There is no way for me to share it with you. Wrote the 29-year old Fawn in this moment of honesty, more than three writers have picked up the gauntlet. These documents are not lacking however they contradict each with respect to each other. It's a daunting job to find these records by separating the first-hand versions from copies that are third-hand and integrating Mormon accounts with those of non-Mormon people into a coherent collection. This is both exciting and instructive. Such was the task to which Fawn Brodie devoted herself professionally. Thaddeus Stevens. Stevens became immortalized through her works and the fruit of her studies. The Devil Drives (1959) Scourge Of The Southern Thomas Jefferson. Richard Nixon and An Intimate Historical History (1974).
